Atlanta Hawks 107, INDIANA PACERS 97
Game 5, Eastern Conference First Round
The Pacers have been pushed to the brink after a desperate comeback from a 30-point deficit in the third quarter fell short.

Atlanta outscored the Pacers 41-19 in the second quarter, opening a 61-40 halftime lead and never looking back to win for the second time at the home of the Eastern Conference’s top seed and take a 3-2 series lead back to Atlanta.

Mike Scott had all of his 17 points during the Hawks’ second-quarter outburst and Atlanta improved to 2-1 in the series at Indiana, which had the NBA’s best home-court record at 35-6.

Shelvin Mack led a balanced attack for the Hawks with 20 points and Paul Millsap added 18 points and four blocked shots. Kyle Korver tossed in 16 points and DeMarre Carroll had 15. Atlanta had the touch from long range, hitting 15-of-27 (55.6 percent) on the night.

Paul George finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds and six steals for the Pacers, while David West, George Hill and Lance Stephenson each scored 16 points and C.J. Watson chipped in 15. But All-Star center Roy Hibbert was non-existent, finishing with zero points, zero rebounds and four fouls in a 12-minute stint.

The Hawks can close the series out—and become just the second team since 1984 to win a playoff series after finishing the regular season with a losing record—in Game 6 in Atlanta on Thursday.
