Game 3, Western Conference First Round
Vince Carter hit a double-pump corner 3 at the buzzer and the Dallas Mavericks took a 2-1 lead in their series over the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs.

Carter’s last buzzer-beating attempt in the playoffs was 13 years ago, but his miss propelled the Philadelphia 76ers to a Game 7 win in an Eastern Conference semifinal series in 2001.

Manu Ginobili had put the Spurs on top with a driving layup with 1.7 seconds left.

Dallas fell behind in the first quarter, but rallied with a big second period. Kawhi Leonard had a solid game for the Spurs, but missed two free throws in the late going with the score tied at 104-104.

Monta Ellis led the Mavericks with 29 points, Dirk Nowitzki added 18 and Jose Calderon had 16 points and nine assists. Samuel Dalembert finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks.

Tim Duncan scored 22 points and had three blocked shots for the Spurs, Tony Parker added 19 points and Leonard had 17 points to go with five steals. Tiago Splitter had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
