Detroit Pistons: End Of Season Player Grades
By Adam McGee
Greg Monroe
Season Averages: 15.2 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.1 SPG, 0.6 BPG, FG% 49.7, FT% 65.7
Although Monroe’s numbers generally dropped off this season, he continued to be one of the Pistons more reliable contributors. In reality, the decline in many of his averages can be attributed to the congested and dysfunctional nature of the Pistons frontcourt. Although he struggled early in the season, his performances post-All-Star break have been excellent, averaging 16.8 points and 10.2 rebounds a night. A free agent in the summer, expect Monroe to get paid, unfortunately it seems less and less likely that it will be by Detroit.
In need of improving: I wrote about this before the start of the season, and it still rings true today, if Monroe can develop a mid-range game, he will become almost impossible to stop.
