Season Averages: 16.4 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 3.4 APG, 1.4 SPG, 1.4 BPG, FG% 41.9, 3PT% 26.4, FT% 53.2

He was the big name, big money acquisition for the Pistons last offseason, but Smith’s first season in Detroit has been a calamity. With Monroe and Drummond already on the roster, Smith has been forced to play as a small forward, instead of in his preferred power forward role. Smith’s Achilles heel is the 3-pointer, and playing on the wing has pushed him into taking 0.8 extra 3s per game than at any other stage in his career. Smith’s points, rebounds, assists, blocks and shooting percentages all went down this year, so priority for the Pistons has to be to find the right coach to focus J-Smoove.

In need of improving: His attitude and attention span. Smith has all the tools to be elite on both ends of the floor. For next season, he needs to work on remaining calm and patient, to allow him to make better decisions.
