2014 NBA Draft: Oklahoma State’s Marcus Smart Player Profile
By Nathan Giese
Highlight Game:
Nov. 19 vs. Memphis (W 101-80): 39 points, 11-of-21 field goals, 5-for-10 three-point field goals, 12-for-16 free throws, four rebounds, four assists, five steals and two blocks
This was the game Marcus Smart really came out of his shooting shell. Throughout the game Smart found a rhythm from outside and let the ball fly without hesitation. He used his size and aggressiveness to his advantage against the smaller Tigers backcourt. Smart wowed the crowd and made it known that he was still around.
Lowlight Game:
Jan. 11 vs. West Virginia ( W 81-75): four points, 1-for-7 field goals, 0-for-4 three-point field goals, five rebounds, four assists
Despite the win Smart was not able to get anything going against the Mountaineers and found himself in foul trouble against WVU’s Juwan Staten and Terry Henderson all game. While he did manage to total his normal rebound and assist totals Smart wasn’t able to be the leader he normally is. The Cowboys still won the game so it didn’t completely take away from the game before he fouled out of the game.
