Atlanta Hawks Weekly: Another Poorly Timed Losing Streak
By Adam McGee
Phoenix Suns – Monday, March 24 (Philips Arena, Atlanta)
After a sky high scoring game when the two teams met earlier in the month in Phoenix, the pace was a bit more measured with the Suns in Atlanta this time out. In a game that both teams desperately needed to win in their respective pursuits for playoff basketball, the ebb and flow of the game went back and forth as momentum shifted from one team to the other.
In the early going, it was the veteran Channing Frye grabbing all the attention. He was red hot, particularly from three point range, but the Hawks managed to keep pace to lead at the half. Carroll and Millsap once again led the way for Atlanta with 19 each, while Jeff Teague and a resurgent Lou Williams both added 17 of their own.
This game would be decided by shooting though, and Phoenix outperformed the Hawks in every aspect. They shot 51.4 percent from the field, 50 percent from deep, and 87.5 percent from the free throw line. This, combined with big performances from Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe, saw the Suns dominate the second half and take the victory by seven points.
