BEATING UP ON PATSIES

We expect the best teams in the NBA to beat up on the bottom feeders. With that said, we also want to see elite teams do good work against teams that are .500 or better. According to Elias, the Rockets are 28-4 against teams that were below .500 at the time of the matchup. Against teams that are above .500, they are 19-18.

This isn’t to say that 19-18 isn’t a good mark against quality teams, because it absolutely is. But, let’s take a closer look at how the Rockets have gotten to the point that they’re at right now.

No team in the NBA has a better winning percentage against the Eastern Conference that the Houston Rockets (22-5, .814). Against the Western Conference, the Rockets are 26-17, which is fourth-best in the conference.

The Rockets are 21-0 against the Celtics, Bobcats, Cavaliers, Pistons, Bucks, Timberwolves, Pelicans, Knicks, Magic and Wizards.
