Back-to-Back with Nuggets Ahead for Streaking Spurs

San Antonio dumped Denver Nov. 5 102-94 at the Pepsi Center during their only matchup so far in the 2013-14 regular season. The Spurs outscored the Nuggets 30-16 during the fourth period and know Denver is coming in with some confidence having won five of seven games entering Monday.

The Nuggets were rocked 117-96 at the Oklahoma City Thunder March 24, but were victorious 10 days earlier 111-107 at the Miami Heat. Denver also protected home court their last five contests, downing the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers most notably.

If the Nuggets are going to beat San Antonio they’ll need to score. Ten of the last 14 games involving Denver has seen both squads tally triple digits. If the Spurs get by with wins in their next two against the Nuggets then the visiting New Orleans Pelicans will get a chance to play spoiler on Saturday.

No matter when it is the next time San Antonio loses, a French proverb perfectly conveys the Spurs’ success, “The more things change, the more they stay the same.”
