Phoenix Suns Show Moxie, Defeat Minnesota Timberwolves 127-120
THREE KEYS TO THE SUNS VICTORY
Catch Up From The Foul Line
In the first half, the Phoenix Suns were just 5-for-8 from the foul line, with the Timberwolves at 15-for-17. Through three quarters it was even worse, with the Suns at 9-for-12, with the Wolves at 25-for-29. The fourth quarter brought things a lot closer, as it was the Suns who were able to take advantage of free points, going 14-for-17, with the Wolves going 7-for-8.
Slow Kevin Love
In the decisive fourth quarter, the Suns clamped down on defense, especially on Love. Although he finished the game with 36 points, 14 rebounds, nine assists and two steals, he was just 2-for-8 from the field (0-for-3 from the 3-point line) in the fourth quarter. He pulled down just two rebounds and two assists in the final frame.
Wake Gerald Green Up
To say that Green had a bad first half would be quite the understatement. Green finished the game with 14 points on 3-for-7 from the field, 2-for-5 from the 3-point line and 6-for-6 from the foul stripe. All of those points came in the second half, as Green turned a -19 into a -6 for the game. He hit some big buckets when the Suns needed it (stop me if you’ve heard that this season).
