DALLAS MAVERICKS 94, Boston Celtics 89
The Mavericks held off every run the Celtics could put together. Boston trailed by 10 with six minutes left but cut the deficit to one in the final minute of play, but Monta Ellis drained two free throws to help Dallas ice the game. Dirk Nowitzki had 19 points for the Mavericks and Ellis added 16. Jerryd Bayless led the Celtics with 19 points, Kelly Olynyk scored 16, Kris Humphries grabbed 14 rebounds and Avery Bradley made three steals.

HOUSTON ROCKETS 124, Utah Jazz 86
The Rockets snapped a three-game losing streak as they took a week’s worth of frustration out on the hapless Jazz. Terrence Jones had 30 points and four blocked shots for Houston, Patrick Beverley added 19 points, Jeremy Lin scored 17 and James Harden tossed in 15 points. Omer Asik, playing in place of Dwight Howard (out with a sore left ankle), had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Derrick Favors and Alec Burks scored 15 points each for Utah and Gordon Hayward had three steals.
