After the month of December, Thomas as started to wear down over the last couple of months and his 3-point shooting all the way down to 32 percent. Furthermore, in the month of January, Thomas shot 41 percent from the field, some of this could be due to the strained ligaments in his shooting wrist. In addition, Thomas is only listed at 5’ 9” and struggles with defending some of the top point guards. Many top point guards score well above their season averages against Thomas. For example, in January Tony Parker, Kemba Walker and Mike Conley all scored well above their season averages. Now the Kings as a whole are not great on the defensive end, so you can really not blame it all on Thomas.

In the end the Kings are the one with the decision on Thomas, it feels like they might have already made up their minds. Since they were willing to trade him at the deadline, it looks like they might try to find a way to sign and trade him this off-season and go in another direction. This will be the biggest news of the off-season for the Kings, along with what Rudy Gay does with this player option.

The Rotation

Can someone please tell me what Coach Mike Malone is doing with this rotation?  The Kings are currently way out of the playoffs and have no hope of changing anything but their lottery status. However, the Kings have keep the same rotation players for most of the season. For example, the Kings know what they have in Jason Thompson, but they still start him and play him 25 minutes a game. Like I have said before, they need to give Derrick Williams a chance to prove he can be a power forward in the NBA. Furthermore, Jimmer Fredette is going to be a free agent at the end of the season and more than likely not re-signing with Sacramento. But he is playing the backup point guard minutes, when they could be playing Ray McCallum to see what he can bring and if he can play. At this time of the year it is important to see if there are other players who can play for next season, especially the young ones. I just feel that it would be good to see if players like McCallum and Williams can be the players the Kings can count on next season and beyond.
