Detroit Pistons Weekly: Rest and Rehabilitation
By Adam McGee
Orlando Magic – Tuesday, Jan. 28 (Palace of Auburn Hills)
The Pistons welcomed the Orlando Magic to The Palace on Tuesday night, as Jacque Vaughn reinserted a familiar name into the Magic’s starting five. Now in his ninth year in the NBA, veteran Jason Maxiell returned to the Palace, but this time sitting in the away locker room after spending his previous eight years as a Piston.
By putting a greater emphasis on defense, the Pistons were able to snap their four-game losing streak and grab a much-needed victory in this one. The Pistons would hold Orlando to 87, incredibly the lowest points total they have given up since the start of December.
The Pistons had five men score in double figures on the offensive end too. Josh Smith scored 16 points off efficient 8-of-12 shooting. Brandon Jennings had 20 along with eight assists from the point, while Andre Drummond had 13 points and 17 boards in the middle. Rodney Stuckey and Kyle Singler also stepped up as significant contributors off the bench.
The Magic struggled as they were out-passed, out-rebounded and generally out-hustled. The Pistons would prevail by a 16-point margin.
