Player of the Week

D.J. Augustin

Toronto’s trash has turned out to be the Bulls’ bounty. Augustin was released by the Raptors in early December to clear a roster spot after Rudy Gay was dealt to Sacramento and signed with Chicago on Dec. 13. To say he’s been a surprise would be akin to saying Kate Upton is moderately attractive. In 30.4 minutes per game in 23 games since joining the Bulls, Augustin is averaging 13.4 points and six assists per game while shooting 42.7 percent from 3-point land.

Last week, in four games, Augustin averaged 22.3 points, five assists and 2.5 rebounds per game in 37.5 minutes a night, shooting 52.6 percent overall and 58.6 percent from deep. He scored 27 points in consecutive games against the Lakers and Cavaliers and had a season-high 28 at Charlotte Saturday night.
