BROOKLYN NETS 107, Dallas Mavericks 106
Mirza Teletovic scored 24 of his career-high 34 points in the second quarter and the Nets held off the Mavericks down the stretch to improve to an NBA-best 9-1 in January. Brooklyn almost squandered an 11-point lead after Teletovic put the Nets up 100-89 with 4:35 to go, but Paul Pierce and Andrei Kirilenko hit some late free throws. Deron Williams came off the bench again for Brooklyn and had 17 points and 11 assists and Kevin Garnett posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards. Vince Carter led Dallas with 19 points, Dirk Nowitzki scored 18, Monta Ellis added 16 and Jose Calderon tossed in 15.

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS 93, Milwaukee Bucks 78
Newly minted All-Star starter Kyrie Irving had 10 points and 10 assists and the Cavaliers kept Milwaukee as the NBA’s only team without back-to-back wins this season. Cleveland took control with a 17-0 run in the second quarter and put it away with a 12-2 burst in the third period. Anderson Varejao led the Cavs with 16 points and Tristan Thompson had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Khris Middleton led the Bucks with 13 points.
