3. Free throw shooting is great; games are won and lost on the charity strip. With that being said, there is a strong correlation between regular season free throw attempts and NBA championships. Since 1983, the only player to lead the league in free throw attempts and win the NBA title in the same year is Shaquille O’Neal. There is nothing free about free throws. To get to the charity strip chances are you got fouled pretty hard. Those hard hits can add up come June.
