Golden State Warriors Weekly: Bounce Back Win
What Happened To Iggy?
Andre Iguodala’s role for the Golden State Warriors is clearly defensive. He’s their best perimeter defender and the Dubs’ defensive numbers are significantly inferior in the time that Iggy’s been injured or on the bench this season. With the best shooting backcourt in the NBA, the Warriors don’t need Iguodala to drop 20 points per game like he once had to for the Philadelphia 76ers in the past.
That being said, just a teensy bit more offense from Iguodala would be much appreciated, especially recently. In his last three games, Iggy’s averaging 4.3 points and has shot a combined 5-for-22 from the field (22.7 percent) and 0-for-8 from downtown. Iguodala’s efficient 3-point shooting with a limited number of attempts has been huge when defenses key in on the Splash Brothers. He’s still shooting an amazing 43.6 percent from downtown on the season and all shooters have bad streaks, but the Warriors would probably like Iggy to find his stroke again as we get closer to February.
