Golden State Warriors 97, NEW ORLEANS PELICANS 87
Stephen Curry scored 28 points and the Warriors got a needed win while extending the Pelicans’ losing streak to eight straight games. David Lee added 22 points and Andrew Bogut was an imposing presence with 10 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots. Anthony Davis went for 31 points—his seventh straight game with at least 20 points—and 17 rebounds and Tyreke Evans scored 14 in his return from an ankle sprain. After giving up 250 points in their last two games, the Warriors held the Pelicans to 33 points in the second half on 13-of-39 shooting.

Portland Trail Blazers 127, DALLAS MAVERICKS 111
Portland won 33 games all of last season; they’re at 31 victories in 40 games this year. That would be better.  LaMarcus Aldridge had 30 points and 12 rebounds as the Blazers pulled even with San Antonio for the top spot in the Western Conference by opening a 71-52 halftime lead. Portland led 111-73 with 9:43 to go before Dallas’ bench made it a bit more respectable. Nicolas Batum scored 15 of his 21 points in the first period. Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavs with 18 points.
