The Suns should enjoy the end of 2013 and the first week of 2014 as much as they can, because after that comes a road trip from hell. Tonight’s road game against Los Angeles is a tough one, but after that Phoenix faces the Memphis Grizzlies and Milwaukee Bucks at home with plenty of days for rest in between.

From there, the Suns embark on a brutal five-game road trip in a span of seven days. None of the teams Phoenix will face have a better record than the Suns (Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies, Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks), but that’s a lot of games in a short amount of time. These are all teams the Suns should beat, but doing so on the road is another matter. How the Suns resist the mediocre kind of play that often results from road trip fatigue could go a long way in gauging whether or not this is team is just another Western playoff team or something more.
