Game of the Week

Thursday: San Antonio Spurs 104, Golden State Warriors 102

With the Spurs resting Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili and with Tony Parker sidelined with a bruised shin, this TNT matchup looked more like coach Gregg Popovich trying to land another hefty fine from commissioner David Stern than a game that would entertain all night.

Kawhi Leonard scored 21 points to go with 10 rebounds for San Antonio and Patty Mills added 20 points, but it was Marco Belinelli off the bench who ignited the Spurs with 28 points in 29 minutes, including 4-of-8 shooting from downtown.

David Lee had 32 points and 13 rebounds for the Warriors, who also got 30 points and 15 assists from Stephen Curry and a whopping 18 rebounds from Andrew Bogut, but came up short when Tiago Splitter tipped in an offensive rebound with 2.1 seconds to go. It was Splitter’s only basket on a night when he went 1-for-7 … including air-balling a hook shot from roughly two feet.
