The Morri$ Twin$:

Not too long ago, my opinion on Markieff Morris (and consequently, his brother Marcus Morris) wasn’t exactly high. Or even medium. Markieff Morris showed plenty of signs of potential when he played near the rim last year. But in looking at some of the names the Suns passed up in the 2011 NBA Draft, I even wrote at one point: “Why the Suns would trade for a nearly identical copy of their ineffective 2011 draft pick is beyond me other than the obvious ‘WE HAVE TWINS!’ marketing ploy.”

But the Morris twins are proving me wrong this season. Consistency is still a minor issue and I’m not sure the Suns would rather have a Morris over the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Nikola Vucevic or some of the other 2011 draft standouts. But the Morris twins are averaging a combined 23.4 points and 11 rebounds per game off the bench. Mark Morris is shooting less than one 3-pointer a game, helping him cut back on the most inefficient aspect of his game to shoot 50 percent from the field. Marc Morris, a 41.8 percent 3-point shooter on the season, is taking 3.4 attempts from downtown every night to give an NBA team the first meaningful minutes of his career. Thank you for proving me wrong, Morris twins.
