Memphis Grizzlies Weekly: Big Homestand
Has everyone had a chance to look at the Western Conference standings? The first-place team and 13th-place team are only six games apart. Furthermore, 12 of the 15 teams are at or above .500 and the Minnesota Timberwolves are only one game below .500. The West is totally loaded this year, we could literally have five teams that finish above .500 and not make the playoffs.
All that being said it is going to be very, very hard for the Memphis Grizzlies to make the playoffs this year, especially with injuries to Marc Gasol and the issues with the rotation. This Thanksgiving week was supposed to an opportunity for the Grizzlies to get back on track after back-to-back losses by division foes at home (Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs). However, after holding off the Boston Celtics, the Grizzlies came home and laid an egg at home, without Zach Randolph due to an ingrown toenail. Therefore, the chance the Grizzlies had to gain some ground in the West was squandered by losing at home to a terrible Brooklyn Nets team.
