Jason Smith Showing Improvement
Jason Smith is showing great improvement in his game.

Who would’ve thought that of all players, Jason Smith would be one of the New Orleans Pelicans main sources of scoring and defense? I know I would have never thought of that, but there’s no doubt that Smith has shown us that he has taken a huge leap forward in his game.
The 7-foot, 240 pound center is averaging 11 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game and although those numbers are not outstanding, he is becoming very reliable. Smith’s best performance came in the 101-94 loss to the Phoenix Suns Sunday night, when he played 41 minutes and finished with eight rebounds, two blocks, 22 points and 9-for-12 shooting from the field. Smith is really going to come in handy this season, for another added scoring option, as well as a guy who can play some solid defense, racking up the steals and blocks.
Anthony Davis Proving To Be A Legit Top Big Man
Anthony Davis is proving to be a legit top big man in this league.

Man, what a season for Anthony Davis. Davis, who is averaging 21.8 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game, has been incredible and consistent this season. Davis has opened up his variety in shooting, as he is not able to score in the paint, but is also capable of hitting the jumper. His defense has been phenomenal as well this year, as he has been a block and steal machine. If you have him on your fantasy basketball team, you’re a lucky man, that’s for sure.
Ryan Anderson Returns With A Bang vs. Sixers
Ryan Anderson is back and ready for action.
(NBA.com)
Ryan Anderson made his return against the Philadelphia 76ers in New Orleans Arena Saturday night. He made it a good one–26 points in 27 minutes, including 6-of-10 from deep, in a 135-98 blowout win.
Greg Stiemsma Out With Injury
Greg Stiemsma will be out 6-8 weeks with a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee.
(NBA.com)
On Friday, the Pelicans announced that Greg Stiemsma, Pelicans backup center, will miss six to eight weeks due to a grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee. Stiemsma suffered this injury Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers in the second quarter. Stiemsma is averaging two points, 4.6 rebounds and 1 block per game. While he isn’t a key piece to the team, this will still be a huge loss, as he still adds solid depth and another body to the roster.
