Denver Nuggets: What Does Randy Foye Bring To The table?
Let me be one of the first people to officially welcome you to the start of the 2013-14 NBA season. Time flies, doesn’t it? Doesn’t it seem like Ray Allen saved LeBron James’ legacy just yesterday? Last year is last year and this season is a brand new chapter in NBA’s history book.
Believe it or not, the Denver Nuggets open training camp today. Expectations are high in the Mile High City. I mean, why shouldn’t they be? They’re coming off a record setting 2012-13 campaign. They got a new hotshot coach in Brian Shaw. They’ve got budding stars in Ty Lawson, JaVale McGee and Danilo Gallinari. They additionally signed Nate Robinson–who is coming off a career year for the Chicago Bulls. Quietly the Nuggets also signed Randy Foye. What does Foye bring to the table? Let’s take a look.
The former top 10 draft pick from Villanova has had a rather disappointing NBA career. The Nuggets will be the fifth team Foye has played for in the last six years. At this point Foye brings little to the table. Let’s take a look at his numbers over the course of the last three years:

As you can see, the 30-year-old brings very little to the table at this point in his career. What statistic surprises you the most on that list? For me is his 3-point shooting percentage. How was his 3-point shooting percentage higher than his field-goal percentage last year? Foye shot 41 percent from downtown and that’s no joke. Foye’s game is very one dimensional nowadays. Is that a bad thing? No, it can help the Nuggets. With the loss of Gallinari for the first half of the season, Foye can help replace his 3-point shooting. With a deep roster, it will be interesting to see how much playing Brian Shaw gives to Foye. Keep an eye on Foye’s playing time before and after Gallinari’s return from his ACL injury.
