NCAAB 2013 National Championship Live Blog: (1) Louisville vs. (4) Michigan (4/8/13)

Welcome to the HoopsHabit.com live blog for the 2013 NCAA Mens Basketball National Championship game featuring top overall seed, the Louisville Cardinals, against the Michigan Wolverines from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA.

It’s been a big week for Louisville coach Rick Pitino. Not only has he led his team to the championship game tonight, but the horse he owns won a big race on Saturday and is now the favorite to win the Kentucky Derby, his son, Richard Pitino, was hired as the new Minnesota Gophers mens basketball coach and was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame on Monday morning. He would like to top it all off with a national championship.

It’s also been a big week for Michigan’s Trey Burke. Burke was named the Wooden Award winner, AP National Player of the Year, Bob Cousey Award winner and basically every other National Player of the Year honor in college basketball.

This championship game also marks the 20 year anniversary of the last time Michigan was in a national championship game, featuring the Fab Five and the infamous Chris Webber phantom timeout. Jalen Rose has reached out to Webber in hopes to have the Fab Five reunited for this game. We shall see if he comes through for his former teammates. Rick Jackson, Jimmy King, Juwan Howard and Rose are all expected to be in attendance.

Coverage for this blog will begin approximately 20 minutes before tipoff, 8 PM ET, 7 PM CT.
