Season Outlook:
A year ago, the San Antonio Spurs were looking remarkably impressive. Even though they’ve been known for their defense, it was their offense that was off the charts. They were second in the NBA in points per game and seventh in pace.
For the 2012-13 season, it appears to be much of the same. The roster hasn’t changed and the main cogs, even though they’re a year older, will still produce at a high level on offense.
Anything less than a championship is considered a failure with this team and this could very well be their last chance. At some point, father time catches up.
Best-Case Scenario:
The offense continues to be tremendous and the defense doesn’t fall off. Instead of disappearing, the role players pick up the slack in the playoffs and the Spurs win the whole thing.
Worst-Case Scenario:
Age plus wear and tear equals disappointment. If the younger guys don’t improve enough and the older guys continue their decline, it could mean a low seed and an early exit from the playoffs.
