Brandon Roy: Which Player Will Show Up For The Minnesota Timberwolves?

Brandon Roy was a tremendous player in his Portland Trail Blazer days when he was a perennial All-Star and a force on the offensive end. Now that the Minnesota Timberwolves have given him a shot to resurrect his career, which player will they get?

Are they going to get the  player who averaged 22.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game? Or will they get the one who shot 40% and was a shell of his former self?

It would be unreasonable to expect Roy to return to his All-Star form and average over 20 points per game for the Wolves but it’s not unreasonable for him to give them 25 solid minutes and 15 points.

Unfortunately for the Wolves, it’s becoming more and more likely that Roy is going to be counted on to play more minutes than they would have liked. The Wolves have basically struck out in free agency so far as it appears the Blazers will match Nicolas Batum.

Does this mean the Wolves make a run at a guy like Shannon Brown? They are going to need some insurance for Roy. As much as I’d like to depend on him, the fact is that he retired for a reason. His body betrayed him and for us to expect his body to magically recover is too much of a stretch.
