Lakers realistic trade target: Jerami Grant

Another beloved trade target for Los Angeles, Jerami Grant's fit with the Lakers feels too good to be true. The 30-year-old has been a force in the league for the last four seasons. In two seasons with Detroit, Grant averaged 21 points, four rebounds, three assists, and one block, shooting 42 percent, 35 percent from three, and 84 percent on free throws. In the last two seasons in Portland, Grant averaged identical stats, shooting 46 percent, 40 percent from three, and 81 percent on free throws.

Entering his 12th season, Grant has grown both as a player and as a veteran leader. With his last two career destinations being young, rebuilding rosters (Detroit and Portland). Originally acquired by Portland to represent a counterpart to Damian Lillard, Grant's role with the Blazers feels more uncertain than ever before. Initially a 'Band-Aid' to a bigger issue, but now that 'Band-Aid' is only creating a logjam for minutes younger players could use.

The Lakers could get Grant in a multitude of ways. However, an expensive contract for Grant (three years, $96 million) with a fourth-year player option ($36 million) is attached. Due to his age and contract, the Lakers prefer to trade less for Grant than Portland desires.

The Blazers want at least two first-round picks for their most reliable player. Ultimately, it's 'wait-and-see' mode for Los Angeles and a Grant trade, which would signal the end of (at least) Hachimura and Gabe Vincent with the team.
