Write For Us

Love the NBA, NCAA and the entire world of basketball? Enjoy writing? Want to join the Fansided network’s most read site  and have a worldwide platform to share your views? HoopsHabit.com is for you!

While we do have a few minor NBA spots open, our main focus for the 2014-15 season is to bulk up our NCAA coverage. We’ve currently got national writers, but we’ll be expanding into conference writers as well. Check out our openings below:

We don’t technically have any team openings, but if right candidate comes along, we’ll make a spot for you.

Note: Don’t see your favorite team here? Apply anyways. We’re filling spots and doubling up on our coverage to provide some of the best and most prolific coverage on the web.

Big East Columnist
Pac-12 Columnist
WCC Columnist

Note: We’re bringing people on for the other conferences as well. We need to fill those spots listed above, but will also accept applicants to enhance our other coverage.

We have openings for the smaller conferences as well. Feel free to drop us a line if you’re wanting to cover one of the other conferences.

We offer daily opinions, stats and analysis on all that makes up the National Basketball Association and the NCAA. You can cover your favorite NBA team for a national website and grow along with us. Check out our available positions, as they often change. Have a different idea in mind? Pitch it to us. We’re always looking to improve our team and if you have a way to do that, we’d be happy to listen. Our writers craft their own headlines or can tap into an ever-changing database created by our staff. That freedom is priceless and makes the sportswriting journey that much more enjoyable.

Our goal is to get a HoopsHabit.com presence in every arena in the NBA. Our site covers all 30 teams in the NBA and is gaining national attention. As a member of the FanSided network, you’ll immediately get that name recognition that independent websites have to work much harder for. We currently have members in Phoenix, Indiana and Dallas with NBA credentials and are always working with teams to get more.

You’ll get national exposure and the potential to attend practices and games, but that’s not the only way to get value from writing for HoopsHabit.com. Instead of our editors pocketing all of the revenue, we believe the best writers deserve a piece of that pie. We believe a company is only as strong as the base and for us, that base is the writing staff.

Every qualified writer earns $1.00/1000 page views. The obvious question is about how many page views we get…we just smashed the FanSided record in June 2014 with 2.75 million page views. The only criteria for getting paid is you must hit your deadlines and write eight pieces per month to qualify. That’s basically two per week. You don’t have to be a math phenom to see the value there. The more you write and promote your pieces, the more you earn. You’re not going to get rich, but it sure beats the other sites that offer you nothing in the way of compensation.

Interested? You’ll have to apply through FanSided at http://fansided.com/join-fansided/. Makes sure to mention HoopsHabit.com as the site you’d like to write for. You can also send an email to our Editor-in-Chief at michael.dunlap (at) fansided.com if you have any questions. We can’t wait for you to join our team!
