The San Antonio Spurs did not have their best season. They had a number of setbacks and issues but still made the playoffs. It is time to look at five goals for the 2018 offseason.

The San Antonio Spurs did not have a good season by their standards. They won 47 games and qualified for the NBA playoffs as the seventh seed in the extremely tough Western Conference. If you told any Sacramento Kings or Brooklyn Nets fan they would win 47 games and participate in the playoffs, they would be ecstatic.

However, the Spurs have much greater expectations than that. They expect to compete for a championship every year and when they do not make it beyond the first round of the playoffs, it’s seen as a failure.

The 2017-18 season did not start well with dissension in the ranks. LaMarcus Aldridge was not happy with his role in the team. The fact that this information reached the media is not common. The Spurs tend to keep these matters in house. However, coach Gregg Popovich was able to resolve the issue and the Spurs had a star to play around.

This was fortuitous, as Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard missed the start of the season due to injury. Leonard would miss all but nine games of the season, making the team’s accomplishments even more impressive. This begins our five offseason goals for the San Antonio Spurs.
