After a disappointing 2017-18 season, the Detroit Pistons need to make some moves in the offseason.

The Detroit Pistons have had a very lean nine years. They have made the playoffs just once in that time, back in 2015-16 when they lost in the first round in four quick games. For a team that’s won the championship three times in 30 years, this is not acceptable.

The 2017-18 season was one of high hopes. They had a solid roster, Andre Drummond was collecting every rebound, Tobias Harris was playing well and Avery Bradley was having a terrific year. The Pistons were just under .500 with a record of 23-26.

They pulled the trigger on a trade that sent Harris, Bradley, a 2018 first round pick and a 2019 second round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers. In return, the Pistons received Blake Griffin, Willie Reed and Brice Johnson.

Unfortunately for the Pistons, this trade did not turn their season around as they would have hoped. After the Griffin trade, the Pistons had a 16-17 record, which got the franchise to a 39-43 record — only good enough to be ninth in the East.

This was not good enough for the franchise and in the end this was probably the final move of Stan Van Gundy. This starts our five broad goals for the Detroit Pistons this offseason.
