Kyrie Irving is looking to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and find a new team. Here are the reasons the Minnesota Timberwolves will not make a move for Irving.

This 2017 NBA offseason is living up to be one of the most eventful in recent memory. Teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves are making their best efforts to stock up talent and beat the Golden State Warriors. One team that remained relatively quiet was the Eastern Conference juggernaut Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavs’ quiet offseason was disrupted on July 21, 2017 when ESPN‘s Brian Windhorst reported that Kyrie Irving asked to be traded. There is a lot of speculation as to why Irving wants to leave Cleveland. One of the most popular reasons is that he wants to be the main star and not overshadowed by LeBron James.

Since James joined the Cavaliers, Irving’s stock has undoubtedly gone up. Irving should be very thankful to James, because prior to his arrival, the Cavaliers had a combined record of 78-152 during the three seasons Irving was their best player from 2011-14.

Furthermore, Irving struggled immensely during the last three seasons when James was not on the court. Last season when Irving was on the court without LeBron, the Cavaliers were outscored by 120 points in 635 minutes. That trend continued into the playoffs as well. Irving’s inability to lead the team put the Cavs at a great disadvantage whenever James needed a quick breather.

ESPN‘s Chris Haynes reported that Irving is interested in playing for the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

If Irving is looking to win another championship, he needs to figure out how to not throw the game away when the other star is out of the game. Running to Kawhi Leonard or Jimmy Butler is not going to fix his inefficiencies as a player as opposed to playing with LeBron James.
