NBA Player Power Rankings: There’s A New No. 1 Player
The 2016-17 NBA regular season is hitting its stride in late November. A number of players still haven’t slowed down from their ridiculously hot starts.
The opening month of the 2016-17 NBA regular season has been one of the most sensational in league history. A number of players have stepped up and achieved accolades to remember mere games into the 2016-17 season.
Though it’s far too early to talk MVP, it’s also impossible to ignore the otherworldly level of play of the NBA’s best and brightest.
A week ago, James Harden of the Houston Rockets and Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder battled for the No. 1 spot. Westbrook emerged victorious, but the gap between No. 1 player and a seemingly distant No. 12 was undeniably small.
The picture has become even more cloudy over the past few days, as those in competition with Harden and Westbrook have dominated in their own ways.
In some instances, players have elevated their statistical proficiency to the point of being an undeniable inclusion in the Top 20. In others, players have made an impact that ranges well beyond the numbers by placing the value in Most Valuable Player.
The question is: who is the best player in the NBA in 2016-17 and who are the threats to that title?
Spoiler Alert: Point guards are on fire.
