The Milwaukee Bucks are in an odd position with their center, Greg Monroe. He is talented, but tough to build around and it seems like the NBA is moving away from players like him. Monroe possesses tremendous touch, footwork and is even a strong passer for his position.

This issue is that despite his strengths, Monroe is a poor defender for his position and not a rim protector. Having a player with those weaknesses at the center position is a tough flaw for teams to overcome when it comes to roster construction.

Making things worse, he doesn’t possess the ability to space the floor, which in this era is viewed as a redeeming quality for a big man with defensive weaknesses.

In many ways, the Bucks have personnel that would help cover for the weaknesses of Monroe. John Henson is a quality defensive player and their wings don’t allow an easy path to the key with Giannis Antentokounmpo and Khris Middleton as defensive stoppers.
