Kevin Durant: Best Options In NBA Free Agency
The 2015-16 NBA season has officially concluded for the Oklahoma City Thunder. What’s next for unrestricted free agent Kevin Durant?
For the third time in six seasons, the Oklahoma City Thunder bowed out of the NBA Playoffs in the Western Conference Finals. This defeat was as heartbreaking as any, as Oklahoma City blew a 3-1 series lead by losing three consecutive games to fall 4-3.
With the season having officially concluded, only one rational question remains: will Kevin Durant re-sign with the Thunder once he becomes an unrestricted free agent this July?
Durant has built a Hall of Fame resume in Oklahoma City. He has an MVP award, four scoring titles, five All-NBA First Team nods, an All-NBA Second Team selection, an NBA Finals appearance, and four trips to the Western Conference Finals.
Yet, for as accomplished as Durant may be, the absence of a championship ring is what’s beginning to define him.
Only five players in NBA history have won at least four scoring titles: Wilt Chamberlain, Durant, George Gervin, Allen Iverson, and Michael Jordan. Only Chamberlain, Durant, Iverson, and Jordan can add an MVP award to that tally.
The question is: which team would give Durant, now an unrestricted free agent, his best opportunity to take the next step and secure an elusive NBA championship?
