The 2016 NBA Draft, like every event before it, will feature a balancing act between untapped potential and certain value. Nothing is guaranteed, but the latter touches upon the idea of safety in the annual selection process.

No prospect is truly risk free, but there are a number of players who fall on the safer side of the equation.

The term, “Safe,” applies to players who are entering the NBA with a skill set that generally translates well. Upside aside, said athletes enter the Association with a specific trait that should keep them employed.

Thus, while it’s impossible to guarantee a rise to stardom, the safety is found in a team landing a player who, at worst, can contribute in a specific area.

For some, it’s a skill such as shooting or shot-blocking that promises to keep them near the top of a rotation. For others, it’s a combination of abilities that may not lead to perennial All-NBA selections, but should secure a spot in a starting lineup.

Nothing is guaranteed, but these 10 prospects are the safest bets in the 2016 NBA Draft.
