Brooklyn Nets – Brandon Jennings

The Brooklyn Nets are going to struggle to recruit many players to play for them given their struggles and dearth of talent right now. They do have a few interesting pieces though, but the major piece missing is a point guard to stir the pot.

Brooklyn is unlikely to get Mike Conley or Rajon Rondo to Brooklyn, but they might get Brandon Jennings. He was supplanted in the starting lineup in Detroit by the younger Reggie Jackson. Then, he was traded to Orlando, a team in need of a veteran presence.

It was not too long ago that Jennings was considered one of the best young point guards in the NBA, and seeing as he’s only 26 years old, he has his prime years remaining ahead of him.

Jennings likely won’t get the chance to start in Orlando though, as the Magic are still attempting to rebuild through young guys. Elfrid Payton was drafted to be the future at the point guard position, and he likely won’t be replaced before starting his third NBA season, unless he is traded in an attempt to consolidate assets.

Jennings will likely look for a new start. Minutes and money are available in Brooklyn, and while they are still a ways from winning, the Nets are in position where they could take a gamble on a high risk free agent. Jennings is that candidate.
