The Dallas Mavericks are back in the playoffs again this season and a few individuals were big factors in their season-long grind.

The Dallas Mavericks went through lots of trouble to reach the postseason this year. After losing out on DeAndre Jordan last summer and settling for what was left on the market, many insiders did not believe the Mavs had enough to even challenge for a playoff spot.

However, even after they lost Chandler Parsons for the season, they continued to rally around the coaching of Rick Carlisle and for that reason, they clinched a playoff spot for the 15th time in the last 16 seasons.

The Mavs started off the year with momentum on their side before falling all the way back down and out of the playoff standings in the West. Then, after a furious late-season run to finish 42-40, the team turned their success into another postseason berth for Dirk Nowitzki.

The NBA is known for handing out individual awards after the season is over. The MVP, the Defensive Player of the Year, the Sixth Man of the Year, Most Improved Player and Rookie of the Year Awards are the main highlights, in terms of player accomplishments.

While no Mavs will be in the running for these awards this season, let’s take a Dallas-only approach and apply these awards to the Mavs as a team.
