The Chicago Bulls missed the playoffs for the first time in eight years. Here are a few notable takeaways from their disappointing 2015-16 season.
The Chicago Bulls concluded their season on Wednesday night with a 115-105 over the lowly Philadelphia 76ers, a team that won just 10 games. Nikola Mirotic led all scorers with 32 points on 10-for-17 shooting, including 7-for-11 from distance.
Justin Holiday scored a career-high 29 points, and Jimmy Butler posted his second career triple-double with 10 points, 10 assists and 12 rebounds. While it was nice to see some of the young players contribute down the stretch, that doesn’t take away the sting of not making it to the playoffs.
In fact, this marks the first time the Bulls failed to qualify for the playoffs when they have won at least 41 games. Not exactly the way the team envisioned celebrating its 50th year in the league.
Coming into the season, the consensus was the Bulls were capable of challenging the Cleveland Cavaliers for conference supremacy. Needless to say, they failed to live up to those expectations.
Having said that, here are the main takeaways from a disappointing 2015-16 season.
