When evaluating why people watch the certain professionals sports events on a regular basis, much of it is because they are passionate about the sport and can be put in awe from the amazing athletes that give it their all on a nightly basis.
The same applies to the NBA, but similar to the NFL and MLB, the sport is driven by the superstars that rule the league. Sure, you have your local, loyal fans that have grown up in a particular city and have formed a genuine love for a team that will never change.
