Wednesdays are typically a busy day around the NBA and there are 11 games scheduled for Jan. 6. Of those 11 games, 10 of them feature teams battling against another conference opponent. With a full slate of games, there is a better chance to find sleeper picks, but also a higher opportunity of missing on superstars.

The lone cross-conference game is the Charlotte Hornets (17-17) visiting the struggling Phoenix Suns (12-25). The Suns are on a nine-game losing streak and have lost 11 of their last 12 games. They have fired two assistant coaches and lost Eric Bledsoe to a season-ending  injury, according to Kelly Dwyer of Yahoo Sports.

The Hornets have also had their struggles, as they enter the game on a four-game losing streak of their own.

The game could be a high-scoring affair. The two teams are averaging a combined 204.4 points per game. Guards Kemba Walker and Brandon Knight could be in for a shootout and should be strong plays.

In the Eastern Conference, there is a crucial battle between the Detroit Pistons (19-16) and the Boston Celtics (19-15). The two teams have split the season series so far in two different ways. The first was a high-scoring shootout that the Pistons won 119-116, and the second was a defensive battle that the Celtics won 99-93.

They are averaging a combined 204.1 points per game this season. These two teams should battle hard for the series lead and the winner holding a playoff spot in the East.

A high-scoring game in the Western Conference should ensue between the Los Angeles Clippers (22-13) and the Portland Trail Blazers (15-22). The Clippers enter the game on a six-game winning streak. The two teams have split the season series thus far, in lopsided games.

In the first meeting, the Blazers won 102-91 behind Damian Lillard‘s 27 points. The second contest saw the Clippers beat the Blazers 102-87 behind Blake Griffin‘s 23 points and DeAndre Jordan‘s 24 rebounds. In that contest C.J. McCollum had 10 assists. The two teams are averaging a combined 204.5 points per game and should have several players with good fantasy value.

It’s time to evaluate who the best players are for Wednesday’s fantasy contests, including a couple of bargains, players to sit and the best lineup for DraftKings leagues.
