The Phoenix Suns are in complete and total disarray. They’re 12-23 in a season that began with playoff aspirations, Eric Bledsoe wasn’t meshing with Brandon Knight before a meniscus injury sidelined him for the season, head coach Jeff Hornacek is on the hot seat and there’s been no solution for the ongoing Markieff Morris melodrama.

With the arrival of a new year, some people look back on the happy memories of the last 365 days. But for others, it’s the regrets that overshadow everything, which is why you hear so many people say, “Yeah, I’m completely ready for a new year.” You could say the Phoenix Suns definitely, absolutely, 100 percent fit that second category — 2016 couldn’t have come soon enough.

But the arrival of a new year doesn’t automatically make it better. It’s still upon the Suns’ front office, head coach and players to do all they can to shake this franchise out of its current cocoon of apathy, depression and turmoil.

So what should their New Year’s resolutions be? Here’s a look at five major commitments the Suns need to make in order to get back on the path to being competitive — and, dare I say, the path to finally bringing this franchise its first NBA championship down the road.
