The Houston Rockets are off to a painfully slow start. Not only are the defending Southwest Division champions on a four-game losing streak, but they’re 4-7 overall and calling their own effort into question.

Just 11 games into the season, general manager Daryl Morey made head coach Kevin McHale the first casualty of the Rockets’ slow start.

That’s a shocking development, to say the least.

McHale has his critics, but he had a successful stint as head coach of the Rockets. He made the playoffs in three consecutive seasons, leading the team to 50-plus wins in both 2013-14 and 2014-15.

More importantly, McHale led Houston to the Western Conference Finals in 2015. That marked the organization’s deepest postseason run since Hakeem Olajuwon and company reached the same stage in 1997.

The question is, who should replace McHale as the new man in town?
