On today’s Daily NBA Fix, we look at the first trade of the season, another Porzingis putback and Olynyk’s burrito bonanza

The Memphis Grizzlies tried to address their offensive struggles by picking up Mario Chalmers in a four-player trade with the Miami Heat.

Chalmers is joined by James Ennis while Beno Udrih and Jarnell Stokes are headed to Miami.

The trade helps the Grizzlies bolster their guards while not giving up too much while Miami may look to trade their acquisitions to reduce their luxury tax according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.

"Sources say Miami could elect to keep searching for trades for both Udrih and Stokes as it seeks to further reduce its luxury tax bill. The Heat had made both Chalmers and veteran big man Chris Andersen available via trade in the summer in hopes of ducking out of tax territory."

This is effectively the first trade of the season and one has to wonder if it will have any sort of domino effect on the rest of the league looking to make moves.

So what other teams should be looking to wheel and deal? I’d start with the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant.

Just kidding. In a world of just numbers that would be the logical decision for the Lakers but in the real world they will never trade one of the best players in the team’s history even if he’s slowing the team down now.

In the real world the only legitimate rumor floating around involves the Brooklyn Nets.

Brooklyn and Billy King are starting to shop around players according to ESPN New York’s Mike Mazzeo.

It seems the trade Derrick Rose talks have quieted after they’ve started to get things sorted out in Chicago, but SB Nation’s Tom Ziller is floating the idea around of a post-Boogie era with the Sacramento Kings.

Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski has been quiet so far this season so while there isn’t any reason to expect anything soon, we all know that can change very quickly.

WHY ISN’T ANYONE BOXING OUT?

Kristaps Porzingis seemed to be tracking this missed shot from the moment it left Carmelo Anthony‘s hands. A trio of Toronto Raptors standing around couldn’t stop him from adding another highlight to his rookie season.

The New York Knicks went on to win 111-109.

Don’t Forget to Lock the Back Door

Gordon Hayward: “I think I forgot to lock the back door, can you check Rudy?”

Rudy Gobert: “Sure.”

[Sees LeBron charging towards him]

Gobert: “Oh…” [Turns around] “Yeah we’re all good back there.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers won 118-114 over the Utah Jazz.

Westbrook Records Triple-Double in Washington

After Kevin Durant left the game with a hamstring injury it was up to Russell Westbrook to carry the weight in Washington for the Oklahoma City Thunder. With 22 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists I think it’s safe to say he did his part in the Thunder’s 125-101 victory over the Washington Wizards.

Olynyk is Listed as Questionable For Tonight With a Burrito Related Injury

Kelly Olynyk tried eating a burrito in four bites as Amir Johnson did play by play. If he’s running a little slow tonight against the Indiana Pacers we’ll know why.
