A couple weeks ago, Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook came out with their 2015-16 NBA season win totals. The highest amount of wins projected was 60.5 for the Golden State Warriors, and the lowest was the Philadelphia 76ers with a projected 21.5 wins.

The Boston Celtics are projected to win 42.5 games, and last season’s team won 40 games, which clinched the team a seventh seed in last season’s playoffs. The Celtics kept many key returners, and added some intriguing new pieces, which is why the team will win more games then projected.

The Celtics’ season starts off with a very brutal schedule, and the team plays some of the better teams from the Western Conference and the Eastern Conference in November.

The Celtics open November against the San Antonio Spurs at home, and in their opening nine game stretch during November, the Celtics play six playoff teams from last season, and the team faces Oklahoma City and Indiana who will be much better since their superstars are back.

That is arguably the toughest span for the Celtics next season, and if the Celtics can win four or five out of those nine games, then the team should be on their way to win between 44 and 47 games next season.

Obviously the team is playing plenty of good teams on the road next season as well during some tough stretches, but if they can prove that they can compete with some of the better teams at the beginning of the season, then the Celtics will make the playoffs with a winning record.

A look at the C’s roster

The Celtics made the playoffs last season with Isaiah Thomas as their leading scorer, followed by Avery Bradley, then Jared Sullinger, which is kind of crazy to think about. The Celtics made the playoffs last season with Sullinger as their third-leading scorer, and he did not even play that much towards the end of the season.

For this season, the Celtics added players like David Lee, Amir Johnson, and drafted R.J. Hunter; all three of those players will add huge upside on the offensive end, and Johnson and Hunter will help out on defense.

The Celtics also solved some of their rebounding problems by acquiring Johnson, Lee, and drafting Jordan Mickey because the Celtics had a lot of problems last season cleaning up on the glass and protecting the rim.

The Celtics filled many needs this offseason, which is why the team is poised to win between 44 and 47 games next season.

Final win total prediction

There is a chance that some things could go wrong for the Celtics next season with injuries, new players not performing in the system, and rookies not really helping out, but if all goes according to plan, the Celtics will be a higher seed in the playoffs this season. The Celtics could achieve a five or six seed this season, especially if they win win more than 42 games.

Last season, the Washington Wizards won 46 games as the five seed and the Milwaukee Bucks won 41 as the six seed, both of those win totals are feasible for the Celtics next season.

Final win total prediction: 45
