The Boston Celtics are going to have plenty of new faces that will make their way into the rotation next season and former Golden State Warriors‘ power forward David Lee is one of them. Lee did not play that much for the Warriors last season since the team was looking to play small, and because the Warriors wanted players that could help out on both ends of the floor.

This does not mean Lee is not going to be a good player for the Celtics. Lee has had a pretty impressive career so far, and he should keep impressing with the Celtics next season.

Lee’s outlook on the Celtics

Lee ended up having a big impact on the Warriors in the finals last season by playing some key minutes and hitting big shots, and the Celtics are hoping he can pick up right where he left off last season. Lee has great hands around the rim, and he has impressive touch from in close.

Lee also has a decent mid-range game, which makes him very dangerous on the offensive end because he can score in a plethora of ways.

Lee is also a great rebounder, which is something the Celtics really need because the team struggled to clean up on the glass last year. His defense is very questionable, which is why he did not play that much for the Warriors last season. He is not a great rim-protector and most players attack Lee on the defensive end.

Lee is vulnerable on the defensive end, but he is too great of an offensive weapon to not play. Lee will probably start for the Celtics at the beginning of next season because the Celtics lack a dominant low-post scorer, and Lee has the ability to be that scorer for the team.

Lee is certainly a upgrade in the frontcourt

The Celtics had a decent froncourt last season with Tyler Zeller, and Brandon Bass playing most of the big minutes for the team down the stretch. Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger also contributed in the frontcourt, but not nearly as much as Zeller and Bass. The addition of Lee and Amir Johnson is going to be huge for the Celtics because Lee will add offense and Johnson will add defense.

Lee is going to add scoring in the post that the Celtics have not had since Kevin Garnett because of his ability to use his feet and hands around the rim.

Overall

The Celtics have made many moves this offseason to make their team better, and the addition of Lee might have been their best move all offseason. He adds veteran experience, great offensive skill, and great rebounding, and the Celtics need every one of those things.

Lee is going to make an impact on the Celtics right when the season starts, and he should be able to bring the team even closer as a tight knit group because of his championship experience.

Hopefully Lee can help the Celtics throughout the season next year and all the way into the playoffs because the Celtics are going to need players with a lot of playoff experience, and Lee has plenty.
