The itch to coach in the NBA that has been on Billy Donovan shoulders for some time now, has finally been scratched.

There are reports saying that Donovan to the Oklahoma City Thunder is a done deal.

The perception of giving a rookie coach an NBA championship-ready team and expecting him to win the Finals in his first season might be a risky concept from a traditional standpoint, but general manager Sam Presti is making the right decision by hiring Donovan. If there was one person that could take this team to the next level it’s him.

Donovan’s actually a better coach than when he was after having won two straight championships back at Florida and then landing a job with the Orlando Magic. That was seven years ago and now Donovan looks like he’ll be ready to lead one of the favorites in the league.
