For the Toronto Raptors, the reality of being a pretender to the throne appears to have caught up with them. They entered last season’s playoffs as a franchise on the up swing, and their “We The North” campaign was a stroke of PR genius. Since then though, while things haven’t been all bad, this team hasn’t kicked on like it should have.

A nice start to the season, complete with Louis Williams gaining early consideration for Sixth Man of the Year honors, the wheels began to come off when DeMar DeRozan went down with an injury in late November. He came back, and things got a little better, but since the All-Star break it’s been grim. So bad in fact, that the Raptors have one of the worst records in the entire league since the break.

Hardly a momentum builder heading into the playoffs.
