Under the instruction of Steve Kerr — a disciple of both Phil Jackson AND Gregg Popovich — the Golden State Warriors are one of the smartest, most efficient teams in the NBA this season. According to the latest report, they could be interested in adding a player most known for his frequent appearances on “Shaqin’ A Fool.”

According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, the Dubs may pursue soon-to-be free agent JaVale McGee, who was recently waived by the Philadelphia 76ers:

McGee, 27, was recently traded to Philly — along with a future first round draft pick — by the Denver Nuggets in order to get his hefty salary off the books. The Sixers took on McGee’s inflated contract so they could get that pick, but since they waived him, they’re still responsible for the remaining salary on his contract (what’s left of the $11.5 million he’s owed this year, plus $12 million next season).

That means McGee won’t have to surrender any of his salary and can sign with any playoff team once he’s cleared waivers.

For all the jokes about his IQ, McGee still has rebounding and shot-blocking to offer a number of playoff teams who’d like to bolster their frontcourt for a postseason run. But should the Golden State Warriors risk upsetting their chemistry by adding him? Here are the pros and cons of adding JaVale McGee.
