Kings acquire Miller from Washington for Sessions

The Sacramento Kings brought in a new face on Thursday, but one that is very familiar to new coach George Karl, when they acquired veteran point guard Andre Miller from the Washington Wizards for point guard Ramon Sessions.

Miller played for Karl in Denver and the two have a close relationship. Karl had been pushing to bring in Miller since taking the job last week, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

It is not true, however, that Miller played for Karl when George was coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1980s—it just feels like Miller’s been in the league that long.

Miller was averaging 3.6 points, 2.8 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 12.4 minutes a game in Washington. The 38-year-old was shooting .542/.125/.718.

In Sessions, the Wizards get considerably younger and more athletic at the backup point guard spot. The 28-year-old will be playing for his fifth team in the last three seasons and the seventh of his eight-year career.

He was averaging 5.4 points, 2.7 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 17.8 minutes a game in Sacramento, shooting .344/.214/.727.

Washington also gets a $2.5 million trade exception in the deal.
