The Deron Williams Trade Rumor

What a week it’s been in the NBA. First the Rajon Rondo trade to Dallas caused a frenzy, then everyone was caught off-guard by the Detroit Pistons’ decision to waive Josh Smith, but in between all of that it was Deron Williams and the Brooklyn Nets that hit the headlines.

It’s no secret that the Nets front office are exploring their options in terms of potential blockbuster trades involving some of their superstar players, but that didn’t make it any less surprising when news of real potential talks came to the surface.

Eager to add another All-Star caliber talent, the Sacramento Kings and their owner Vivek Ranadive are said to have been intrigued by the prospect of Deron Williams as the team’s floor general.

As reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

"The Nets have been shopping their high-priced star players, and the Kings have been probing the market for an impact point guard. No deal is imminent, but the talks are ongoing, sources told Yahoo Sports. The talks have centered on sending the Nets point guard Darren Collison and forwards Derrick Williams and Jason Thompson as part of a multi-player package for Williams, league sources said."

Of course, all of that begs the question of what exactly should Brooklyn be holding out for in any potential deal for Williams.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the men who could land in Brooklyn if a deal was to come to fruition between both sides.
